Textures and Letter Oo

Happy Tuesday!

This morning the AM Kinders were very lucky to have a special guest speaker in. Felix's Granny, Mary Hays visited our class. Mary is a well known storyteller and author. Mary shared both stories and poems from all around the world with us this morning!

We learned that oral stories are stories that live in our heads and our hearts.
We really enjoyed listening to her stories. Our favourite stories were the 3 Billy Goats Gruff and the story about the lion and the mouse (Felix played an active role in this story which we all really enjoyed)!

Thank you for taking the time to share your captivating stories with us this morning, Mary!

Letter Oo
Todays letter is a vowel - we learned that when a word is a vowel it says its NAME and its SOUND!
Jolly Phonics letter O (starting at 4:18)

Students practiced printing the upper and lower case letter Oo and then took part in a directed drawing of an octopus.

Texture

Today our learning table jobs were focused around textures and what something feels like!
Students were invited to explore various items at their table and decide what they feel like.
Are they:
- smooth
- rough
- hard
- bumpy

After exploring the items, the students were invited to pick on item that they could describe to the class.

Volunteers Needed for Novemeber 26th morning & afternoon
* Both the AM and PM Kinder classes are looking for 2 volunteers each to help out on November 26th.
If you are cleared to volunteer and would like to spend the morning/afternoon (depending on which one your child is in) with us please email me at kaytaylor@cbe.ab.ca

You will be helping all the kinder classes during their Food Impact presentation - it does involve quite a bit of help with food prep (cutting pitas, vegetables etc)

* More information regarding this day will be sent home the week prior to Nov. 26th for all students - I just wanted to let any potential volunteers know ahead of time

Reminders:
- Friday is PM Kinders
- We are still accepting food donations to the Veterans Food Bank. A sincere thank you to all the families who have brought in donations!
