Letter I

Happy Monday everyone!

Vivian and Roman were our Rock Stars today!

Vivian shared with us her Build-a-Bear named Rosie! Rosie plays the My Little Pony song and Vivian likes to sleep with her.

Roman shared with us a bracelet that he got. He said he isn't sure where he got it from but he likes it.

Learning Tables
This week our learning tables are focusing on:
- Making groups of 3,5,6,8 or 2,4,7,9. Students here are encouraged to read the number and match the correct amount of loose parts with the corresponding number.
- Using stamps to stamp our name into play doh. This learning table works on letter and name recognition
- Coloring. This learning table is focusing holding our crayons using a pincer grip and taking our time to color in the lines.
- Geoboards to make letters. This learning table is focusing on using our fine motor muscles to stretch the elastics and recognizing letters in the alphabet.

Letter I
Today the students worked on the letter I.

** These are good to Bookmark as we will be using these every week with each letter that we learn.

Like we do with every letter, we first practice printing the letter in the air before we print it in our notebooks: we always start at the top and go down, then across the top, across the bottom to make the upper case I. Starting at the middle, then down, ending with a dot to make the lower case i.

• Ask your child what sound Ii makes. 
• What are some things that your child can name that start with "I"? 
• Letter I is a tricky letter because it says its name AND its sound. 
• It might be helpful to watch the video with your child to practice.

Today we drew and ice cream cone - we chose a word where "I" says its name and also talked about "igloo" where it says its sound. We really focused on drawing the shapes that are used to make an ice cream cone - a triangle and two circles. We took our time to color in the lines and make sure there were no white spaces.


Both the morning and afternoon classes had gym. Ask your child what skill they worked on today in gym class? hint: hop hop hop
