P is for Pumpkin and We are Leaders

Happy Monday Everyone!

Todays Rock Stars:

Lee shared his favourite toys with us today! Lee said he likes to sleep with the Hulk and he always plays with his other toys but doesnt sleep with them.

Emma shared with us her picture, unicorn, and her favourite book. Her book is special to her because it has her name in it and has a lot "of wonders in it."

Learning Tables
We started our morning, like all of our mornings, at our Learning Table.
This weeks tables work on sequencing, patterning, 1:1 number recognition and number coloring.

Color by nnumber

patterning

sequencing - what is the order of making a snowman

math game - number recognition

Letter P
Since we are all in the Halloween spirit right now, we decided to do Letter P today. We used the pumpkins that have been donated to our class as inspiration for our art.

After learning about letter P - how to say it and print it - the students learned how to draw it through a directed drawing. To add detail to our pumpkins we used chalk pastels! This was our first time using chalk pastels. We learned that you do not need to color in all the white spots because you can use your fingers to blend the colors together. We also learned that chalk pastels are very messy!

Check out our pumpkins! They are SO great!

Library
Both the AM and PM Kinders went to the library today. Just a reminder that every Monday we will be visiting the library so it is helpful for the students to bring their books back prior to Monday or on Monday.

Veterans Food Bank

Kindergarten students are exploring the problem of what to do if people do not have enough food. We have been discussing different ways to help others. With Remembrance Day coming up, kindergarten students are excited to be leading the Veterans Food Bank Drive. This week students are working to sort items that are appropriate to donate to a food bank. Each class is creating posters to encourage donations within the school community.

Reminders:
  • October 30th - PM Kinders can dress up for Halloween or can wear their pajamas
  • October 31st - early dismissal at 11:45am for AM Kinders only. AM Kinders may dress up if they want or wear their pajamas.
  • Veterans Food Bank - accepting non-perishable food items until Nov. 15
