AM Kinders Halloweeeeeen

HAAAAAPPPPPPPY HAAALLLOWEEEEEN!

Wow what amazing costumes! Look at how our class transformed! The students look amazing!

We started our morning off with some spooky coloring and listening to music.

We then created a spooky pumpkin patch followed by snack and a halloween story. Through this task we were working on our cutting skills.

Thank you Felix for donating a pumpkin to our class!

We used our 5 senses to talk about what we could see, smell, taste (we talked about what we thought the pulp would taste like . - yuck), feel and what we heard when scraping and pulling out the pulp and seeds.

Center time in costumes is always more engaging!

Happy Halloween to all my Kinder Families!

I really hope that everyone has so much fun tonight, stays warm and has a great long weekend!

No school tomorrow for New Brighton Students!

Reminders:
  • School Pictures DUE Nov 5th
  • Veterans Food Bank - accepting non-perishable food items until Nov. 15

Alister! He shared with us his Buzz who he said is his favourite from Toy Story. Alister likkes Buzz the most because he has a lazer!

This morning the AM Kinders were busy with both gym and music and then centers.

PM Kinders dressed up today in their amazing Halloween costumes today! Look at our spooky class!

*I am sorry but I can not figure out how to rotate it*

We made a spoooooky pumpkin patch

Pumpkin Investigation
"ooooh it's slimy and cold and slippery!!" - these were the words that most students said as they worked together to dig out the seeds and pulp from inside of our pumpkin.
Our five senses were working on overdrive this afternoon:
Smell:
"it smells so yuckie"
"ew that is so strong"
"yum I like it!"
Taste:
"Oh I like pumpkin pie!"
"I wouldnt eat this! yuck"
*dont worry - no pumpkin was consumed in this investigation*
See:
"It is round"
"bumpy"
"wavy"
"it is orange"
Touch:
"It is so smoooooth"
"Oh I like it. It's like bumps in the road"
Hear:
"I can hear you scrapping the sides of the it!"

We made predictions about how tall the pumpkin was ... turns out we were close and it was 13 blocks high.

We then all took turns taking out some seeds and pulp together!
It was so much fun! Thank you Izakai for the pumpkin!

School Pictures were sent home yesterday and are due Nov. 5th to order online or via the order form.

Tomorrow is AM Kinders only - 8:10-11:45am (Friday Dismissal Times) - Halloween Day at school for them!

Have a wonderful night!

Veterans Food Drive

Tuesday, Tuesday .... What a chilly Tuesday it is!

Rock Stars of the Day

Owen shared with us his favourite Peppa Pig Story - Owen even read the story to us in a nice clear and loud voice!

Benjamin shared with us his yellow truck. He said that he has 1000 of them at home and he loves playing with them!

PM Kinders had  both gym and music today.

Veterans Food Drive

Today the students learned about the Veterans Food Drive. We discussed who the Veterans are and why we are asking the whole school to help us collect food for them. The students were very excited to learn that they are going to be the LEADERS in this food drive. We hope that we can collect "hundreds and hundreds of foods".

What kind of food should we donate? We discussed how we can only bring food that is kept in our pantry or cupboards as these foods do not go bad - these are called Non-perishable food items.

The AM Kinders made posters today so that we can spread the word around the school! The PM Kinders will be make some posters next week.

Center time - today in centers the alphabet hunt was such a hit. You can also do a similar hunt at home by creating a list of all the letters in the alphabet and your child can go around the house looking for items that start with that letter or looking through books or magazines for that letter.

Veterans Food Bank

Kindergarten students are exploring the problem of what to do if people do not have enough food. We have been discussing different ways to help others. With Remembrance Day coming up, kindergarten students are excited to be leading the Veterans Food Bank Drive. This week students are working to sort items that are appropriate to donate to a food bank. Each class is creating posters to encourage donations within the school community.
